ailing from Albuquerque, New Mexico Daniel Abraham is a popular and prolific American science fiction/fantasy author. Abraham is most known for his collaborations with another fantasy author George R.R. Martin. Abraham graduated from Clarion West in Seattle Washington. The first series he wrote was the Long Price Quartet. He wrote it in hopes of creating a piece of work that had never been seen in the fantasy genre before.
Abraham’s published works have been nominated for several awards. His collaboration with Ty Franck Leviathan Wakes was nominated for the 2012 Hugo Award for Best Novel and for the 2012 Locus Award for Best Science Fiction Novel. His novelette “Flat Diane” was nominated for the Nebula Award. His novelette “The Camlist and Lord Iron: A Fairytale of Economics” was nominated for both the Hugo Award and the World Fantasy Award. Abraham has written many collaborations with different authors, novels, novelettes and short stories.

He is the long-missing brother who has an obvious motive for murder.

He has tried for years to prepare his people for a future in which the magical andat, magical spirits that support their way of life and intimidate all foes can no longer be safely harnessed nor used. However, his efforts are too little, too late. As the Galtic army closes in on the city of Machi, the magic users known as Poets who have power over the andat wage their own battle to save their loved-ones and their nation.
The Price of Spring: Fifteen years have passed since the devastating war between the Galt Empire and the cities of the Khaiem in which the Khaiem’s poets and their magical power known as “andat” were destroyed, the women living in the cities of the Khaiem and the men of Galt infertile. But Maati, a poet who has been in hiding for years and is driven by guilt over his part in the disastrous end of the war wants to make amends for his past begins to train female poets. Vanjit, a woman haunted by her family’s death in the war, creates a new andat which is now punishable by death. Her hope turns to ashes as her creation unleashes a power that cripples everything that she touches.
