Born in Independence, Missouri on October 26th, 1971 Jim Butcher is a New York Times best selling fantasy author best known for his series The Dresden Files and his series The Codex Alera.
At the age of 19 Jim completed writing his first novel and according to him it was horrible. After 2 more novels he finally rewrote the first one. He realized then that his writing still needed some work so while he attended a writing class he wrote the first Dresden book, then the next and last the third. When he decided to have the first book published he met with a literary agent named Ricia Mainhardt and his writing career finally kick started. His first book was released in April 2000.
