Born on February 8th, 1973 Peter Brett is a well known fantasy author. He studied English Literature at the University of Buffalo and graduated in 1995. He developed an interest in writing fantasy at an early age. When he wrote The Painted Man it was his fourth novel that he had written. Currently he lives happily in Brooklyn with his wife and daughter. When he has time he enjoys reading comics and enjoys role playing.
Brett’s first book to be published was The Painted Man which was published in 2008. He actually wrote this story while riding on a New York City subway. The book takes place on a advanced civilization world which had been reduced to a dark age postapocolyptic wasteland by the attacks of demons known as Corelings. These Corelings are powerful beings blessed with magical abilities and born with differing elemental natures. Each night they emerge from the planet's core to feed on humans. In this world humans must take care to be indoors before it gets dark. Against this postapocolyptic world backdrop the three main important characters named Arlene, Leesha, and Rojer are tested and pass into maturity and begin individual quests to bring an end to this horrible and unimaginable terror. The famous and most loved book has been translated into many different languages such as German, Polish, French, Portuguese, Spanish and even Japanese.
