Richard Scott Bakker, born on February 2nd 1967 in Simcoe, Ontario is a well known Canadian fantasy author. In 1986 Bakker attended the University of Western Ontario where originally he wanted to major in literature but instead pursued a degree in theory and criticism.
Bakker began writing in the 80’s while attending college when he came up with his best selling series The Second Apocalypse. His series was published in 2003. When Bakker began writing the series that would soon become a bestselling series in the early 2000’s he found it essential to split the three novels into its own sub-series. He did this in order to incorporate all of the characters, themes and ideas that he wished to explore throughout the series. Bakker originally imagined of writing seven books. He was going to write a trilogy and then two duologies following that. However, this of course didn’t happen. Instead he decided to write two trilogies and one duology.
