Robin Hobb is the second pen name used by popular novelist Margaret Astrid Lindholm Ogden. Hobb was born in 1952 and she is most known for primarily producing fantasy fiction works. However she has published some science fiction works in the past. Hobb currently lives in Tacoma, Washington. In 1995, she began to use the pen name Robin Hobb for works of epic traditional European Medieval and American Frontier Fantasy. As of 2003 she has sold nearly over 1 million copies of her first nine novels under the pen name of Robin Hobb. After graduating from high school, Hobb attended Denver University located in Denver, Colorado for a year and before moving to Alaska. After being married at eighteen, she moved to Kodiak, which is an island located in south-central Alaska. It was then that she sold her first ever short story and thus began a career writing for children's magazines. Over the next decade she moved around America, before settling down in Washington and continuing her writing career in fantasy and science fiction. She has three fully grown children and a young daughter who she currently lives with.
