Terry Brooks Biography
Born January 8th, 1974 Terry Brooks is a fantasy fiction American author and a popular one at that.
Like many authors he had been writing since High School. In college he was given a copy of The Lord of the Rings and that was his inspiration to write in the fantasy genre. His first book to be published was his novel The Sword of Shannara in 1977 which led itself into a popular series. In fact the first book in the series was the first ever fantasy book to be ever put on the New York Times Bestseller list where it remained for five months straight successfully.
After finishing two sequels for The Sword of Shannara book series, Brooks decided to move on to another series. This new series would famously become known as the Landover novels. After he finished the Landover series he wrote a four-book series called The Heritage of Shannara series. Over the next fourteen years, Brooks wrote and published more Landover books. After that he then went on to write and publish a new series of books called The Word and Void trilogy. Continuing to expand the Shannara series, Brooks wrote and published the prequel to the entire series The Sword of Shannara called the First King of Shannara. Not too long afterwards Brooks wrote and published two series new series called The Voyage of the Jerle Shannara series and the High Druid of Shannara series. Very recently within the past 4 years Brooks has finished writing and publishing a third book called the Genesis of Shannara. This series is a trilogy that bridges his Word as well as the Void and Shannara series. His lastest set of project projects named, A Princess of Landover, was recently published and released in August 2009. Legends of Shannara which is a duology that takes place after the events of the book Genesis of Shannara. The first book of the series called the Bearers of the Black Staff was published and released in late August of 2010.

The Sword of Shannara: this story takes place in a world 2000 years after an apocalypse occurs. In this world there are men, dwarves, trolls, gnomes, elves and magic users that have all mutated from mankind. It is set in a medieval setting though it does relate back to the technology that civilization has lost.
