Upcoming Books in December

A couple of days late. Sorry!

The Unreal and the Real, selected Stories of Ursula K. Le Guin Vol 1: Where on Earth (that was a mouthful) is the first of two parts which encompass 40 stories from Le Guin’s past. She is best known for the Wizard of Earthsea which has spawned countless anime, comics and games. She is #9 on the list of most influential fantasy authors, and my personal favourite of hers ‘The Left Hand of Darkness’ is given a big shout out in Scott Orson Card’s ‘Ender’s Game’.

Where on Earth should have many great stories and this would be a great place to start if you have never read Le Guin before.

Ash by James Herbert has been out since September on Kindle. However, if you are like me, you like to hold a book in your hand. If you are even more like me, then you want it in Hard Cover. Well here you go =)

p.s. if you thought you’ve heard of him. He’s the son of Frank Herbert, the creator of the Dune series.

Supervolcano: All Fall Down is the latest book by Harry Turtledove. Turtledove writes historical fiction and usually with a fantasy twist. He is starting to get a few mentions on the forums. Supervolcano: All Fall Down is about an eruption that start at Yellowstone Park which subsequent leads to a complete coverage of ash over North America. Food cannot be produced, machinery unusable and cities no longer habitable. Everyone is trying to survive as the glove grows colder every day.

Farmlands cannot produce food. Machinery has been rendered useless. Cities are no longer habitable. And the climate across the globe grows colder every day.

I’m very surprised there are not more books in December (or even November). This is the holiday season and time to buy presents for others is it not? However, wait for Janurary…Sanderson, Jordan, Gaiman, Hamilton will make an appearance!
