Wheel of Time lands with Sony

99.5 sure he's English. Cockney in the comics (thanks Wiki), pretty sure Popclaw refers to him as English at some point - it was only at that point my wife realised he was meant to be English. Cockney's an east end Londoner for those who don't know. I can get why Darwin thought Ozzie as he does...

It's September 2019: What fantasy book are you reading?

Recently finished The Killing Moon by NK Jemisin, which falls under the category of hugely admire and like a lot but don't quite love, and am something of a pause. Probably going to try and finish The King in Yellow, and I've got a review copy of the latest Marie Brennan which I should read but...

Wheel of Time lands with Sony

Thanks to the mods for taking action. I'll miss some of Extended's viewpoints, but am happy to see people who can't behave gone. This is Lan and I always found myself mildly at a loss as to what real world ethnicity he'd mirror, as Malkier seems some parts East Asia and some parts South Asia...

Wheel of Time lands with Sony

There's some talk that Natalie Dormer will play Siuan in S2, although I can't find a proper confirmation.

It's August 2019: What fantasy book are you reading?

I hear that. I actually flicked to the back at about halfway through to see whether I wanted to stay the course or just say "This book is a lovely journey but I found myself going in a direction that seemed meh in a slow way so I decided to get off the bus and say I enjoyed the journey up until...

Wheel of Time lands with Sony

Except they did change the story in a few ways for GoT, and for Harry Potter too, and the LotR movies, and those were gigantic successes. Books and TV/Movies are different mediums. The scale of story you can successfully tell in the latter is smaller than the former and one of the things that...

What Movie or TV show are you watching?

That was clumsily put on my part as in that I was trying to talk about Gaiman's general views on everything, not just politics. Messing around with mythology has been his raison d'etre forever; him messing around with mythology some more should probably be viewed through those lens more than...

Game of Thrones Season 8 (here be spoilers)

I can just about see the Unsullied deciding otherwise for reasons - they're never been the rampagey types. The Dothraki? The World Pillaging Champions? Oh well. One more stray detail is hardly an issue at this point.

Game of Thrones Season 8 (here be spoilers)

My theory is that there was another 3 episodes they shot in between those two moments, but then accidentally destroyed, so they stuck those two moments together and hoped nobody would notice.

Game of Thrones Season 8 (here be spoilers)

Problem is I think the signal's getting perceived as "Waah! Waah!" out there and is allowing people to shrug off criticism as immature. Wonder what will happen with the spin-offs now. I've little intention of watching them, although I don't control the TV remote in my house so who knows.

Game of Thrones Season 8 (here be spoilers)

I enjoyed most of Episode 5 on its own merits. I just kinda wish it was a different show and Game of Thrones was getting a different ending.
