    Urban Fantasy

A little late to the party but I noticed that no one else recommended them so here goes: The Felix Castor novels by Mike Carey. Currently reading book 3 and I am loving them (to get things into perspective Dresden Files is one of my favorites series and I am thoroughly enjoying Alex Verus too)...

July 2016. What fantasy books are you reading?

Ok back after a while and read a bunch of stuff: Alex Verus books 5-7. Since I am a great contemporary fantasy fan and a wizard kind of guy the series continued to be spot on for me. Jacka improves his writing, worldbuilding and story with each book and I could not be more happy about it! (for...

June 2016: What Fantasy Book Are You Reading?

Ok, so I haven't written in a while and I have finished some stuff: Dagger and the Coin series. Very well written story and one of the best written villains I have ever encountered. At some points I felt the pacing was little off and I would have liked a more detailed dive in the history of the...

March 2016 - What fantasy books are you reading?

I too did a back to back read of the Unhewn Throne (that's why it took me a while to post). Overall I liked the series a lot. But let me elaborate a bit: The characters I thought was the strong point here. Even Adare whom I hated with all my heart was (in my opinion) very consistent with her...

February 2016 - What fantasy books are you reading?

I am really looking forward to your opinion for the Emperor's blade, since it is the next one in my TBR list. I am about halfway in Sabriel from the Abhorsen trilogy. Not the best read I've had, but the setting (and the characters for that matter) looks very promising so I am going to give it...

February 2016 - What fantasy books are you reading?

Just finished the Night Circus. What a read that was! Full of mystery, atmosphere and magic. I would, without second thought, recommend it to anyone for a change. It had a Victorean-Era feeling that was spot on for my liking. Now, on to Aether of the Night by Brandon Sanderson. I am really...

February 2016 - What fantasy books are you reading?

Finished The Broken Empire. Overall an entertaining read with the second book in the series being the best in my opinion. The end though was EXCELLENT and very well written. I am now about 25% in the Night Circus and I really like it!

February 2016 - What fantasy books are you reading?

I just finished the King of Thorns and moved on to the Emperor of Thorns. Overall, I enjoyed the second book more than the first and I'd really like to see what happens in the third book. I very much like Jorg with his mix of cynical, self -sarcastic, don't give a damn till I do attitude. Let's...

January 2016 - What fantasy books are you reading?

Finished the Prince of Thorns and picked up King of Thorns. Interesting series and an easy read at that. Though I wouldn't call it the best books I've read (not even the best books I've read in January) they are quite enjoyable and fun.

January 2016 - What fantasy books are you reading?

Thank you for your recommendations about what to read next BUT we had a change of plans. I got my kindle back sooner than expected, sooooo now I am halfway through the Slow Regards of Silent Things. I really like the prose and the daily life of Auri. Easy and relaxing read!

Well just got my kindle back, and I bought the Prince of Thorns. I am really looking forward to reading it! I really dig in the concept of the alternate history/Europe!

January 2016 - What fantasy books are you reading?

So, I just finished The Republic of Thieves. It was as good as I expected it to be and then some. I really enjoyed both the whole election rigging storyline and the interludes/flashbacks. I am really, really excited for the next book because the endgame of The Republic of Thieves (and some hints...

Wheel of time #1 Help needed. :(

I won't add anything new to what the guys said above me, but I will fucking write this post nonetheless. Wheel of Time is INCREDIBLE. It is a vast journey through which you actually see your protagonists grow up from silly teenagers to adults with the responsibilities of the world in their...
