August 2015 - What fantasy books were we reading?

Just finished Traitor's Blade and started Fools Errand. So far, it seems like another sad, depressing, novel. Fitz is loneley and living on his own with no one but his wolf. Someone please tell me this gets less depressing. I loved the first trilogy but COME ON! Enough with the depression...

August 2015 - What fantasy books were we reading?

Just finished Traitor's Blade and loved it. It started out sort of light and silly and ended great. It really was a good story. Now I'm starting Fools Errand. By Robin Hobb

Queen of Fire by Anthony Ryan

Yeah, basically. He died and saw that there's nothing in the "beyond" that's why he has no faith I think??

Queen of Fire by Anthony Ryan

Weaver actually healed Vaelin and took his song. At least that's what I thought we were told in queen of fire. Every time Weaver heals someone he takes something from that person. But it did seem like Dahrena bringing him back made his song go away

August 2015 - What fantasy books were we reading?

Now that I'm finished with Queen of Fire I'm going to start Traitor's Blade by Sebastian De Castell. I have no clue what this series is about but I have read some decent reviews

August 2015 - What fantasy books were we reading?

I just finishes Queen of fire 10 minutes ago and loved every second of it. I totally agree with you and do not understand all the bad reviews. Great military fantasy!

Queen of Fire by Anthony Ryan

I'm about halfway through this book now and I'm still baffled that so many people dislike it. The action is high and I love the military aspect of it. Unless the ending is aweful, I'm thinking 4.5/5

Queen of Fire by Anthony Ryan

The story definitely changed after blood song..... it's almost like the story and world exploded really fast. Blood Song is mostly about Vaelin growing up, then the last quarter of it starts to move very quickly with the war starting and all of that. Now at this point, the entire world is...

June 2015 - What fantasy books were we reading?

I am currently reading Dead Beat by Jim Butcher. I took almost three years off of reading any Dresden Files books but now that I'm back into the series I have a new appreciation for them. They are fun and quick paced light reads.

What is your favorite family in Fantasy?

I'm going to go with The Guiles, from the Lightbringer series by Brent Weeks. You have two brothers who are best friends and then end up fighting a civil war against one another. A prick of a father who causes all sorts of drama and a mother who let her son kill her because that is just what...

April 2015: What fantasy books were we reading

Please let me know if you are depressed after these books. I personally loved this trilogy and will read all of Hobbs other books because I think she's great at what she does. That said, this trilogy DEPRESSED me. I couldn't believe how it effected me. I lost sleep over it for crying out loud...

    Malazan series Book Club

I'm reading Toll the Hounds and loving every page of it. I think I'm finally over trying to piece it all together and now I'm at a point where I just trust Erikson to get me to the end..... I'm excited to finally be down to three more books. I can't wait to find out how this all comes together...

    The Skull Throne Book Club

I have to completely agree with the main vibe of this thread. Skull Throne took me so long to read I almost stopped halfway through; which I have never done before. Most of the book is more pointless rantings that have nothing to do with the main storyline. Although it was somewhat interesting...
