It is March 2018: What Fantasy book are you reading?

Currently on Infernal Batallion by Django Wexler. It's pretty good so far. I like it a bit less than the preceding four novels. My biggest pet peeve is that Wexler keeps mixing up the rank of one character (captain or colonel) which is very distracting in a military fantasy book.

Oathbringer (Stormlight Archive 3) by Brandon Sanderson

For the most part I agree with you, about the final 8 hours 100%, that is the best part of the series so far. I was listening in my car and litterally cheered when Szeth arrived. I just felt that Shallan's arc didn't so much involve her losing control due to overwhelming circumstances but rather...

Sins of Empire (Gods of Blood and Powder) by Brian McClellan

Currently listening to this book for the second time, I feel it is the best of all the Powder Mage universe books so far. Ben Styke in particular is a very engaging character and I've always loved the detective parts of the series. This is continued through Michel and his investigation into the...

Oathbringer (Stormlight Archive 3) by Brandon Sanderson

I've very mixed feelings about this book. Dalinar is excellent as the focus of this book, his past is far more interesting than that of Kaladan or Shallan in the first two. He is a man who willingly changes rather than one who is changed by circumstance, making him much more pro-active than the...

Bound (Alex Verus) by Benedict Jacka

I finished this book a few days ago and it was one of the less memorable ones of the series to me. I felt that the break in the formula, as in this takes place over months rather than a few weeks or days, as in most other Alex Verus novels, did not do the book much good. Usually there is a focus...

Post your own Top 25 Best Fantasy Books

I'll Make my list a top 10 since I'll be rating series as a single entry. 1: The First Law Trillogy (and it's standalone follow-ups): Logen Ninefingers is the greatest fantasy character ever created. Aside from that many of the other main characters are brilliant as well, such as Glokta. The...

The Wheel of Osheim by Mark Lawrence

I liked Lawrence's second trilogy, just not as much as the first one. 7/10

The Guns of Empire by Django wexler

I'm currently near the end of the book and I have to say I love it. Much better than the last one which was, up until the end, pretty much a fantasy version of the French Revolution with obvious stand-ins for Napoleon and Robespierre among others. This one is similar, in that it reflects...

The Last Mortal Bond by Brian Staveley

I made an account for the forums specifically to throw in my two cents about this series. This series in my opinion is the worst fantasy series I have ever finished. Every single character is an idiot. Almost all of the conflict between the three siblings is caused by them simply not talking...
