The Anubis Gates 225 to Fin

I finished the book. I would give it a 3 out of 5 or a 6.5 out of 10. Nothing really ground breaking in the time traveling genre. I did really like how nothing they did would change the future. It just wasn't that much of a page turner for me. If you liked this book you will probably like...

    The Anubis Gates II 200 - 225

I meant 100 - 225 not 200 -225. Well Professor Doyle has had a heck of time. But he is quite the lucky survivalist. We have our first time paradoxes where a character leaves messages for himself and so forth. One thing though, maybe I am skimming too much, but I thought Doyle was...

February 2012, What Book are you reading?

I finished the Black Company books. I would give them a 6.5 out of 10; maybe a 7. Interesting, but a tad boring at times. The climaxes were always a bit anti-climatic. Starting the latest historical fiction book by Conn Iggulden - Conqueror: A Kublai Khan Novel. His books are awesome. I...

My anti-virus software has been saying it is blocking different types of web-attacks when I visit today. I think they are from non-U.S. based IP addresses in IN which I think is India.

    Internet Browsers

I have been using Firefox for a couple years and found it much better than Explorer and always liked the cool plugins you could get with it. I just started using Chrome and I have to say the pure speed of it blows Firefox and Explorer away.

    Upcoming Books to Read

After I finish Ghost Story (Butcher), I don't know what I am going to read. I am thinking Scott Lynch (book 2) or Glen Cook Black Company. I may try "Prince of Thorns" by Mark Lawrence since it has a number of good reviews on Amazon - that would be a gamble though. These upcoming books...

June 2011 - What fantasy book are you reading?

I am continuing with "The Long Price Quartet" series. Finished the first book and I am now almost half way through the second book - "A Betrayal in Winter". Very interesting series, the reader knows most of the secrets that are hidden from some of the characters, the crux of the story are...

Coolest Fantasy Cartoon Ever (for kids)

Most of you are far too young to remember, but the in the early eighties there was a short lived fantasy cartoon called Thundarr the Barbarian that a young me thought was the coolest ever. YouTube - Thundarr The Barbarian S01E01 Secret of the Black Pearl YouTube - Thundarr The Barbarian...

April: What fantasy book are you reading?

I am reading Conn Iggulden's "Empire of Silver". It's historical fiction (Ghengis Khan and his decendents), not fantasy, but it reads like really good fantasy (horses and swords and bows) and it's mostly true.

    What's on your Bucket List?

What's on your bucket list? Be realistic, most of you will never climb Mt. Everest or go to space. I honestly don't know what's on mine. I just started thinking about it. I've already done a lot of what I wanted to do. Never really had a formal check list, but I had kids, bought a house -...

    Way of Kings - 601 - Fin

I am really sad that I am finished with this book. The more you read the more you want. Great book. I am really looking forward to the next installment. The God that created Mankind is dead. The docile parshmen are possible sleeper agents - one thing that is weird about the docile parshmen...

    Way of Kings p.165 - 600

I am getting myself in trouble with this book as I am reading it when I shouldn't be. I am especially hooked by the character Kaladin (not younger Kaladin, but current Kaladin). There are so many things to consider at this point as this world is very large. 4500 years is an eternity, in terms...

    Way of Kings Book Club

I'll be reading The Way of Kings next if any one wants to read it with me. I'm picking it up tonight. It's received good reviews from posters here and elsewhere, so I'm confindent it will be a good book. The Soldier's Son books were okay, probably not Hobb's best work. An overly complicated...

Renegades Magic Ch. 6 - Finish

Not Hobb's best series, in fact it was her worst series. It wasn't horrible, it was just unexciting and the plot was little overly complex (which always leaves small holes). For example, Nevare was split with one half of him retaining certain qualities and another others. But, when you think...

    Renegade's Magic (Soldier Son Bk 3) Ch. 1 - 5

A lot of these chapters were a rehash of the first two books. Nevare has faked his death and entered the forest to live amongst the Specks, he tries to stop the road with magic and realizes this was the wrong course of action. His "other" self takes over his body and he is now a bystander with...
