The Red Knight by Miles Cameron is $2.99 today on Amazon US.
Railsea by China Miéville $1.99
I recommend this one guys. It's a very fun and different read. It's sci-fi with Lovcraftian padding. I really liked it. He also has another book '14' which I have also read and liked. He wrote 14 before The Fold, but The Fold is not a sequel, although they do share some characters and theme. You wont miss out on anything if you read The Fold first. In fact it made reading 14 more enjoyable to me.
The Fold by Peter Clines $1.99
The Thousand Names (The Shadow Campaigns #1) by Django Wexler $1.99
I've got Thousand Names on my to read list. My biggest concern is that it is described as flintlock and not true fantasy and more of a military book. At that price it's awfully easy to pull the trigger.
Go to GR and read some 1 ,2 and 5 star ratings. If they raise some red flags you have a problem with and that would break the enjoyment for you personally, pass on this one. If they have some issues but those aren't things that bother you go for it.
Personally for me it's not about that 1.99$, same as for you. But I am unwilling to commit my time and read books where the red flags show up in good and bad reviews.
Oh blood and bloody ashes!!! I just now saw this. I Only have 4 series on my TBR and that was #4. I know it will be completed next month but it also seemed the least interesting. I was all set to start Golem and Jinni either tonight or tomorrow. I don't have a fantasy series going (that was going to be next after Jinni)...but not THIS series.
But the fantasy gods have spoken (as well as
(aleB isoguL) so I will go along with their wishes! I know where you park your coffin, Alucard!
Edit: I mean any series going where the next book is available
Dude where's my coffin?
The Adventures of Fafhrd and the Gray Mouser: Swords and Deviltry, Swords Against Death, and Swords in the Mist by Fritz Leiber $3.99
Why, Pittsburgh, Transylvania of course. Where else could it be?
I was referencing this. Just replace car with coffin.
One of the stupidest movies I've watched, yet so fun to watch.
Age of Myth (The Legends of the First Empire #1) by Michael J. Sullivan $1.99
A Man of His Word: The Complete Series by Dave Duncan $2.99
Age of Myth is $1.99 (which I bought the last time on sale - haven't read yet) but the second book is C$16.99! The Kindle prices on new books = ouch!
They'll come down too. Don't worry. Usually happens when the next book (no. 3 in this case) is about to come out
$1.99 for The Thousand Names is a great deal. It's the best book in the Shadow Campaigns series. A must read for military fantasy fans.
The Discworld Companion: Turtle Recall is $4.99 at this time, a decrease in price for this hilarious adjunct to the Discworld books. I think the original Discworld Companion is what I loved way back when, and now it's updated. Not only great info you may have missed, it includes completely new stuff too.
Hi kenubrion! I can't open the link at work. Do you know who updated the book? And was it written by Pratchett originally or someone else (like part of the Science of Discworld books)?
Silv, amazon lists Stephen Briggs as another author next to Pratchett.
When I bought the first iteration I was also worried that it wasn't Sir Terry but it reads like it is. I bought this one but I'm not ready to read it.
It was either this original Companion or "The Wit and Wisdom of Discworld, a compilation of quotes from the Discworld novels". (from Briggs' Wikipedia article). My guess is it's Wit and Wisdom that was so great.
New edition of Companion https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00DB3D7QW
Wit and Wisdom https://www.amazon.com/dp/B006IY9DGE
Silvio, I just checked it out and it's not what I thought it was. Wit and Wisdom is the one that I'm remembering as hilarious and concentrated Pratchett-isms. I just returned Companion and bought Wit and Wisdom, and I got it for only $2.99 because I had bought the print version years ago. Still worth the full price of $10.99 on Amazon US.
Thanks for the help and heads-up, Alucard, or I would have misled Si again.
Wake of Vultures (The Shadow #1) by Lila Bowen $3.49
The Last Wish (Witcher #1) by Andrzej Sapkowski $2.99
