Yesterday was mardis gras, but if you lived in louisiana you've been celebrating since your new years hangover went away. We have multiple parades here in Shreveport spanning multiple weeks. The biggest three seemed to have all picked very literary themes this year. Centaur parade , this year picked a mad theme resulting in lots of Alice in Wonderland floats, and a few jesters et cetera. Gemini parade did a comic theme with super heroes an peanuts gang and other newspaper characters.

But highland picked Game of Thrones Throws.

Ohh for those who don't know (I didn't until two years ago). A throw is something they throw to you off the floats , beads and 'dubloons ' are the most common (no flashing, that has never had anything to do with it, it's just an invention of college kids and porn producers who don't live in louisiana) but they can throw expensive high heels, hot dogs, Ramen, toys, Frisbees, flowers, et cetera.

Do they do throws and floats like this in other countries mardis gras celebrations?
