Well at least the intro music would be a given ..
My point entirely
It's obvious what the theme music should be.
(Though that might be too metal for some people.)
As for the series itself, I hope they don't get the Shannara treatment. I have a fond place in my heart for The Elfstones of Shannara, and I couldn't even make it through one episode of the series. The teenage cheesiness was off the scales. And that's pretty bad when you consider the fact that I enjoy reading a lot of young adult fantasy too.
Insufficiently metal. We need to get Kataklysm on the case. Or Bal-Sagoth! Yes.
Please not the Shannara treatment. I watched the first four episodes and only finished the series off by watching it all in fast forward...as in skipping through to what looked like interesting bits and getting to the end.
I must admit of having liked the leading actress quite a lot.
I am done with listing what I've liked about the show though. I went about 8 episodes deep in The Shannara Chronicles and in The Magicians tv series as well... and then my YA tropes torelance ran over and I gave my fantasy adoring heart some mercy by stopping with those shows for the time being.
I hope that they wouldn't do that to WoT. Statistically speaking - I am counting on volume here. They couldn't possibly screw all of the Wheel of Time, Kingkiller Chronicles and Mistborn/Stromlight Archive... can they?
Shannara Chronicles was based on a shit book, and a lot of what I watched was pretty dope for low budget TV.
WoT should make for great TV. I'm tentatively optimistic (admittedly I felt the same before The Magicians came out).
Oh yes, let's start that again!! (Unfortunately, I could not find the original thread)
I'd like to see Mila Kunis as Nyneave. And Kate Hudson as Elayne. How about Emma Stone as Egwene? Hmmmmmm
I've had to cross my legs.
Emma Watson as Egwene!
(OK, possibly not a great fit. But I just like Emma Watson)
I can never get excited for these things because nothing will truly ever do the books justice. Will still likely watch it though.
I just hope it's at least average. This series could be expensive due to magic and a large cast so a bad showing will just lead to cancellations.
If there's even 2 good minutes of TV before this show gets canceled, it will be a huge success for me. We were super lucky that Jordan's wife arranged for the completion of the written series, and we're super lucky that she's pursuing getting this show on the air. I love the books, I love the audiobooks, and I'll buy/watch any serious effort at a WoT movie, video game, or TV show.
Well... They might get Mistborn right, but I have little hope they will produce a decent product with Stormlight. Too many elements are playing against it and it is currently being used as a mean to promote diversity in ways which may not work in North-American soils. It is also way too early to be speaking of a Stormlight adaptation.
I have worries over adapting Kingkiller considering the fact we might never read book 3...
WoT, I have mixed feelings about it: it could either be the series which change everything or another fiasco.
Just realized you said sony....this is going to suck.how many franchises has Sony screwed up so far?
Oh god, it's Sony.
Sorry, you're all fucked! They're infamous for demolishing their own movies and tv shows.
Examples: The Amazing Spider-Man 1 and 2, and Fantastic Four.
They're probably embarassed to be making something based off of something that they'll probably never actually read.
Prepare to have your series fucking demolished in one of the worst ways possible.
Edit: Although I hope that it goes without saying that I hope that I'm wrong. I'd love for it to be The Lord of the Rings movies all over again(only in tv format) where I can't stand the books, but the movies is the best thing ever!
But how many times will Nynavae tug on her braid? That's the real question.
The annoying thing is she doesn't do it in the first two books. Suddenly it happens every page in the next few books before he tones it down. It was irritating though.
I have only read the first book but have no interest in a film or tv series. I want it all in my head.
