Volsunga Saga is closer to a progenitor--in theme, mood, culture...efficacy of narrative, use of magic, character development, the first two works are very different, semi-oral, poems. The Aeneid is not quite complete, but a literary imitation of the first two. Very influential for 1500 years after it was written, it's not part of the fantasy genre and correctly draws little crossover readership. Collected folk-tales like 'Grimm'(1st edition) belong here. These don't seem to.
