No, it is not. Plot Evidence: Farm boy, who discovers something wanted by an evil emperor, goes to an old story teller who was once a part of a magical race of peace keepers. Together they go to a fortress to rescue a princes but on this journey the old teacher is killed by one of emperor's minions. Returning to the rebel base the farm boy becomes a hero in an unlikely battle. From this alone you can predict the family related bad guy twist in the second book and constructing a new swords plot in the third book simply by seeing how the the plot is ripped off directly from Starwars.Narrative Evidence:It would take too much space to list the amount of literary flaws in this series but to name a few. Even ignoring the problems in the sentence structures there's telling and not showing, deus ex machina twist, stealing of tropes, making the main character a Mary Sue and head popping POV swaps between Eragon and Saphira. Psychological issues of those in its defense: 1. Nostalgia 2. Concord Fallacy 3. Age Handicap (reader and author) 4. Uneducated in basic English Lit. Conclusion:Generic, brings nothing new to the fantasy genre and am very surprised it even got publish. Don't abuse your children with this book for the same reason given above, it will not help them.

If you are going to badmouth one of the best series ever, at least man up and do it in your own name. You obviously are not a true fantasy lover (to be honest, I think might just be a dragon hater). If I were wrong in my assumption, I would not have made it; in fact, I would not be here, wasting my time to point out to you that you lack of amazement is just insulting to the people Christopher, and all those millions of fans of his work!

It's boring. Full of clich├ęs. Roran Stronhammer and Nasuada are interesting and everybody else is obnoxious. It's boring. The explanation for the mystical spell that concealed the weapon to defeat Galbatorix was lame. It's REALLY boring. Eragon is a despicable main character who, when responsibility is thrust upon him, shirks it and runs off by himself, leaving the Varden in danger. An altogether terrible ending to a terrible book series. Did I mention it was boring?

I disagree and think it was a GREAT series. Eragon had to leave the Varden or else Galbatorix would have wrecked the Varden much earlier. The ending was sad I'll admit, but all of the books are HUGE page turners. Inheritance is my favorite book. And the rest of the series is a close second. Christopher Paolini is a great author. I can't wait for more of his fabulous work.

What a mess! Awful descriptions, heavy-handed dialogue, clunky plot.
Teenagers shouldn't be allowed to produce fantasy novels -- or encouraged with million dollar contracts. Leave it to people who can actually write.

Awful ending to the series. Its reds OK if it is your first/second fantasy series, but once you have read sanderson, rothfuss, GRRM, Tolkien and the other great writers Inheritance cycle is intolerably stupid and cliched. Not to mention the god awful ending.

For me it was a really amazing fantasy series. The whole story (even though it has some plot issues that dont have proper answer) it keeps you really hooked. Hopefully the "Book 5" will continue the story of Eragon, Saphira and the others characters and all Alageasia word.

Ps. Dragon Riders and Eldunaris are an amazing concept, which gives you a whole land of ideas for imagination.
