Creating a beautifully intricate world of cultures, Tad Williams follows the journey of young Simon from kitchen boy to knight. Trying to save the world under the shadow of the Storm King he meets characters of different cultures and species, as he fights for the survival of Ostern Ard. Best fantasy seriesi have ever read.

What I like most is that Williams' heroes win by compassion and not by violence. This is much more difficult to do, because the Conan-Revenge-hack-and-slay-way is much easier to invent.

Ok so the first 100 pages of the first book were hard to get through (just shaping up the world). However after that i couldn't put the books down. The story follows simon through his various adventures to rpevent the storm king. This has many similarities to GOT, George RR Martin himself has said that he found inspiration from Tad Williams. For me this tops GOT everytime!

It's not that the pace is slow, it's just that Williams doesn't write very compelling characters. Still, this series was entertaining, even though I expected much more of it since it was so high on this list.

Sort of a 'Lord of the Rings' for YA's. Good story overall, well defined good and evil characters. A bit slow to start off, but once it gets going its a good read.
