Millions of readers have discovered the magic of David Eddings’ New York Times bestselling series The Belgariad. Now the first three books in this monumental epic appear in a single volume. Here, long-time fans can rediscover the wonder—and the uninitiated can embark upon a thrilling new journey of fantasy and adventure.

It all begins with the theft of the Orb that for so long protected the West from an evil god. As long as the Orb was at Riva, the prophecy went, its people would be safe from this corrupting power. Garion, a simple farm boy, is familiar with the legend of the Orb, but skeptical in matters of magic. Until, through a twist of fate, he learns not only that the story of the Orb is true, but that he must set out on a quest of unparalleled magic and danger to help recover it. For Garion is a child of destiny, and fate itself is leading him far from his home, sweeping him irrevocably toward a distant tower—and a cataclysmic confrontation with a master of the darkest magic.

How Rawlings is higher than Eddings I don't know. Eddings is broader, more literate and certainly much more enjoyable.

The first few books are entertaining as you discover the world Edding creates, but it gets lost in endless trivial twists and personal sidtracks and stalls out. Another victim of unending sequel flu.

The belgariad great. The Mallorean (second series-sequel) great but does get a bit long winded at times. Overall 9.9 out of 10.

This series is amazing. I first started reading it when I was twelve, but got bored and kept playing video games, but when I was 15 I started reading them again, and since then I've reread the series twice. Some of the best!

Great book, much broader than some fantasy I've read and the charecters are brilliantly written. Awesome

This book series straight up changed my life. Incredible. In my opinion, it's the best series that has ever been written. I was deeply depressed when they were over.

These books are like returning to a place of peace. The story is predictable, absolutely, but the character development is virtually without peer. I *know* the characters in these books like they are my friends.

This is one of the best, if not the best fantasy series out there. I read it every year or so. I take time to visit with old friends and enjoy the familiar. When the characters speak I hear them their voices are the voices of friends. This series takes me to a warm friendly place that I love to visit. Thank you David and Leigh for creating these characters and this world.
