This is not a hoax. Jim Theis was a real person, who wrote The Eye of Argon in all seriousness as a teenager, and published it in a fanzine, Osfan in 1970. But the story did not pass into the oblivion that awaits most amateur fiction. Instead, a miracle happened, and transcribed and photocopied text...

Actually, I think this book is pretty good. Very descriptive, very riveting, and a well thought out plot. I can't understand for the life of me how anyone can think this is a bad book. I think it is a ground breaking true work of genius.

This book is too entertaining to be on this list. I quote it constantly. It's like the best example of "So Bad It's Good" ever.

Having read this book ALOUD this past weekend with friends, it is by far the worst book of any genre. It lacks a cohesive plot or any plot that could be discerned. While it contains many adjectives and adverbs, quite often they are applied incorrectly, spelled incorrectly, or just confusingly not part of complete sentences.
It is, however, the BEST read aloud book for a party and we completed the book in about 3-4 hours, taking time to laugh so hard we nearly cried.
