I read the Axis trilogy in my teens and loved it! Would I enjoy it now if I read it again? Probably, there's just too many other books to get to...

THANK YOU for including this book in your list!

I read this a few years ago, but I still remember the experience, as it was so utterly unpleasant.

It started out well enough, and then went so far downhill that it was heading for the solid core of our lovely planet.

An example of the bad: the main character has a female love interest but of course they can't be together (for some reason she had to sacrifice herself and marry some other guy first). Being the wonderful man he is, the main character understands her sacrifice and will wait for her. Of course, by the time she is free he has impregnated another woman and opts to publicly humiliate and berate a woman who had sacrificed herself for his cause (and whom he had claimed to love).

As a woman myself, I was surprised that this level of misogyny was written by a woman. Go figure.
