Hello =) So I probably haven't read enough to split out my lists into standalone / series etc, but for what it's worth, here's my list (in no particular order):

A Song Of Ice And Fire

by George R.R. Martin

4.25 avg rating
What's not to love. I adore 'world building' in fantasy novels, and it doesn't get much better than this!

The Lord Of The Rings

by J.R.R. Tolkien

Surely this is in everyone's list? An absolute classic - a benchmark in the genre.

The First Law Trilogy

by Joe Abercrombie

5 avg rating
Read this recently. Probably my favourite group of characters in any series I've read. I became attached to all the lead characters in different ways, and found it hard to put any of the books down. Abercrombie has the best 'writing style' of anything i've read.

The Mistborn Trilogy

by Brandon Sanderson

Definitely my favourite trilogy! Love Sanderson's writing style (VERY easy reading), and he's really clever when it comes to the magic systems.

Gormenghast Trilogy

by Mervyn Peake

This is my absolute favourite book(s). No other book had driven me to tears, until I read this. Can't imagine I will ever read anything better.

Wheel Of Time Series

by Robert Jordan

The books that introduced me to fantasy .. love them! Gonna be sad when they come to an end! Also would love to re-read them, but given it takes me atleast a couple weeks to read a single one, don't really have the time! Maybe when I'm older ..

Elantris

by Brandon Sanderson

My favourite standalone - barely put this down, probably the quickest i've read a book. Again, Sanderson comes up with a clever magical system. In my mind,Sarene is the hottest female character in any fantasy novel! =)

Sanderson, again! Can't imagine him writing a book I don't like. Did I mention his great magic systems ??

The Farseer Trilogy

by Robin Hobb

Fitz has been my favourite lead character. Great reading about him develop as the books progress. Also has the most despised villain (Regal) in any book i've read!

War Of The Flowers

by Tad Williams

Never thought I'd like a book about faeries, but i did. Really funny at times too. A great (but quite long) standalone, that kept me gripped from the second I picked it up.
